I have a few methods, the one that works the best for me is running. I think it works cause for that half-hour- 45 minutes when I'm out on the road, absolutly noone can contact me, my phone is back in the house/car. Location is important too, If I'm looking to get a workout in, I'll go to the gym and run on the treadmills, if its mental clarity I seek, I'll go down to GKP and run along the inlet, I like to go during sunset when the sun reflects off the water and all the sailboats are anchored, it always makes me feel better.
Tactic # 2 is video games, particularly shooters, this is more of a "RAGE EXPULSION" technique and comes in handy when I'm too pissed off to run, combines with booze can be hilarious/frustrating.
If i'm feeling mellow already and just need some quiet, I go down to the beach at the end of the block and enjoy a stogie, it's gotta be night time though, actually, this is a great time of night/year to do it....on that note....
